In today's internet age, Gen Z faces severe self-control issues, with prolonged immersion in social media becoming a new trend, leading to a range of mental health problems and real-life social isolation. Data shows that the average user spends 144 minutes per day on social media, while Gen Z spends an astonishing 5 hours. To address this challenge, we launched the Blossom project.

Blossom aims to leverage the addictive nature of social media by partnering with local businesses to create a social platform with a rewards system. This system encourages users to engage in real-life activities, thereby fostering good life habits.

Problems and Challenges

Prolonged immersion in social media not only leads to mental health issues for users but also alienates them from the real world. Through interviews with three Gen Z users and detailed questionnaires, we gained insights into their thoughts and behavior patterns, discovering that Gen Z generally possesses high empathy, emotionality, and a strong concern for environmental and ecological protection.

Solution

Blossom's core is a self-challenge app designed specifically for the behavioral characteristics of Gen Z. The app helps users balance social media and real life in the following ways:

  1. 21-Day Habit Formation Cycle: Using a 21-day cycle, the app gradually helps users develop healthy life habits through progressive challenges.

  2. Multilevel Incentive Mechanism: Combining social, motivational, and incentive aspects, we designed a multilevel incentive mechanism. Recognizing that mere social incentives are insufficient to drive users, we included charitable donations as a key motivator.

  3. Offline Market Strategy: By partnering with local stores and businesses, we involve them as marketing partners in our rewards system. These businesses can attract and retain potential offline customers at minimal cost while encouraging users to engage in real-life activities.

Blossom not only helps users balance social media and real life and develop healthy habits but also brings new opportunities for local businesses, creating a sustainable community ecosystem. Through this innovative platform, we aim to improve the quality of life for Gen Z, promote their mental health, and enhance social interactions in real life.
