The Plastic Law of EU
intro
Plastic waste is increasing every year. Although people have consciously reduced the use of plastic products, this is far from enough. The key issue is whether national laws and policies can keep up with environmental efforts.
This project collects and visualizes data on plastic-related laws within the European Union to raise awareness about the importance of relevant legislation.

Process
Survey and Analysis
By organizing and compiling relevant legal data from the United Nations environmental report as an initial data source, we discovered that the vast majority of legislation only targets plastic bags and not other major pollution sources such as single-use plastic products. Additionally, we conducted a series of surveys with our target audience to understand their thoughts and potential blind spots regarding the relevant laws, which helped in designing the final visualization.
Inspiration
The visualization scheme went through multiple iterations, and we ultimately decided to use the form of a "lotus" for the final presentation. The lotus is known for its ability to purify water, which aligns perfectly with the goal of reducing plastic pollution.
