WED Internet Barriers

intro

The Women’s Entrepreneurship Development (WED) project in Georgia has been evaluated by UN Women and the International Labour Organization. The evaluation report details the numerous challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in Georgia. In collaboration with UN Women, we identified internet barriers as a key focus. The project used hundreds of photos taken with a camera to create a stop-motion animation to convey information, delivering important messages to the audience.

Process

We conducted an in-depth analysis of the survey report data and found that the internet is a key entry point for presenting and shaping our story. The data shows that more than half of the women entrepreneurs in the sample are eager to learn new digital technologies and knowledge to better help their businesses sell products, expand their reach, and gain more revenue. They lack knowledge and development on digital platforms and commercial tools, indicating significant growth potential in information and communication technology for women entrepreneurs.

Through the data visualizations presented in this project, we aim to call on the government or other relevant organizations to provide more support for female entrepreneurs in the digital field. In terms of content, we focus on highlighting three issues faced by Georgian women: location, age anxiety, and family responsibilities. We hope these themes will resonate with the audience. The resilience and agility of pom-poms make them an ideal metaphorical material for our animation, depicting the process of women entrepreneurs overcoming challenges.
